Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) programme is a professional programme meant for preparing teachers for upper primary or middle level (classes VI- VIII), secondary level (classes IX-X) and senior secondary level (classes XI-XII)

The course will follow the general rules prescribed for the B.Ed course by the University of Calicut with respect to academic standards for admission, course of study, scheme of examination, instructional hours, practice teaching requirements, attendance of students, etc.

Duration of the programme

The B.Ed. Programme is of four semesters spread over two years duration. However, the students shall be permitted to complete the programme requirements within a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme. Classes of First semester shall be started latest by July in all affiliated colleges of University of Calicut. The minimum number of working days in each semester shall be 100 and in each year shall be 200 excluding days of admission and examinations

Eligibility for Admission

B.A/B.Sc/M.Com degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent there to under 10+2+3 pattern, with minimum 50% marks in part III or Master’s Degree in the same subject with minimum 50% marks.

At least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the Bachelor‘s degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics (In case of B.Tech / B.E degree aggregate marks/grade in Science and Mathematics papers alone will be considered)

Relaxation in the marks will be allowed in the case of Candidates belonging to scheduled castes / Scheduled tribes/ socially and Educationally Backward classes/PWD and other applicable categories as per the rules of state government.

Categorization of seats:

The seats are classified into merit and management - 50% seats each.

Merit seats:

The allotment to merit seats will be done by the college from the rank list.

Management seats:

The seats are to be filled by the concerned management and those who wish to seek admission to the said seats can approach the college authorities from the month of June.
